Pet Classics provides quality custom furniture and accessories for elderly, small/miniature, and disabled pets. We carry a specialized product line to help your pet safely maintain their independence in spite of age, size or physical limitation. Please remember, however, that any sign of weakness or disability in your pet should be investigated by your veterinarian. Our products are intended to supplement, and not replace, appropriate veterinary care.
How Pet Classics Began
Like most cats, Abby knew no limits when she was young. But approaching her "senior" years, the precision jumps started becoming less "precise" though her determination remained stronger than the fear of getting hurt. And so began the process of developing products that would keep her safe & healthy throughout her old age.
First came the Pet Steps. Then after a period of time, when her legs became arthritic and too weak to tackle the steps, she began showing signs of listlessness & depression. So it was back to the workshop where the Pet Ramps were born. Within minutes of setting them up, Abby was happily and easily parading up & down her new sofa and bed ramps! Today, we credit these steps and ramps (in combination with proper veterinary care) as the reason Abby was happy and healthy for almost 22 years.. They restored her freedom and independence and allowed her to age with the dignity a senior pet deserves.
As we received more and more requests to build dog ramps, cat ramps and pet steps ~ Pet Classics was born. The company is Abby's legacy and a testament to the true tenacity and spirit of beloved pets everywhere!
Pet Classics Timeline
2000 – 2002
With Abby as inspiration, Jan Wiggin and George Yankolopoulos partnered to form Pet Classics in early 2000 after previously working together in the data/imaging technologies field. For a short time, the company operated as a home-based business in Chelmsford, MA where the flagship pet ramps were initially designed and manufactured. Pet Classics opened for business and the first website was launched in Sept. 2001.
2003 – 2014
Pet Classics relocated to, and incorporated in, Manchester, NH in early 2003. As the core business grew, we sought out other small business owners across the country whose one or more products also focused on improving pet accessibility. We found and formed relationships with several business owners, most of whom manufacture in the US, and all of whom provide solid, quality products and excellent customer service. C&D Pets, Pet Loader, Bear Brained Ideas, Adairco to name a few … and we are happy to represent their products right alongside our own.
In 2012, as we sought to expand our pet ramp production capacity, we met Jonas Zook ~ Pinnacle Woodcraft ~ seeking a reseller for his quality crafted hardwood dog crates. There was great synergy between our respective operations and product designs, and so we began working together. Since that time, all of our hardwood and cedar products have been manufactured by Jonas and several other Amish craftsmen in PA and CO.
2014 – 2020
George left Pet Classics and Jan temporarily moved the business office to MA in 2014. With production now being done elsewhere, ending the partnership afforded George the opportunity to start TouchstonePet.com where he’s currently able to devote his efforts wholly to new product development and wholesale operations. Through TouchstonePet.com he continues to build and enhance the Pet Classics product line while making those same products available to a wider audience through other quality pet product retailers.
Stay tuned … Pet Classics will be on the move again, returning to the Granite State (NH)!!
