How and why it works - the Arch
The Purrfect Fence "Houdini-Proof" Outdoor Cat Enclosure has several components, but its' ultimate key to keeping cats safely enclosed is the carefully engineered Arch along the top.
Should your cat attempt to climb the enclosure (unlikely due to the mesh's unique flexural properties), the curved arch will turn even the most persistent cat back into the enclosure and force them to drop safely back to the ground.

Installation Overview
Installation of the Purrfect Fence outdoor cat enclosure is very simple! No digging is required and the 7' high cat fence will not damage your lawn. To install, you will simply:
- Pound the post sleeves into the ground with a sledge hammer and the (included) "driving cap".
- Slide the fence posts into the inserts/sleeves.
- Attach the arched extenders to the top of the posts.
- Attach the polypropylene mesh cat fence starting from the tip of the arch, over the top and then down the the back of the posts.
- Tie the mesh fence to arches and posts with Zip Ties.
- Attach the reinforced Chew Guard to bottom of the fence.
- Pin the Chew Guard to the ground with included ground stakes.
Fence Posts and Inserts
Heavy Duty black fence posts and post "sleeves" (inserts) make up the Purrfect Fence support system. The post sleeves eliminate the back-breaking work of digging holes or climbing ladders to install the fence posts. Simply pound the sleeves into the ground with a sledgehammer (and the included driving cap) and then simply slide the fence posts into the sleeves.
The curved arch extenders are then attached to the top of each fence post.
Polypropylene Mesh Grid Fencing
The 7 1/2 ft high roll of high-strength polypropylene mesh grid fencing is hung from the outermost edge of the arch, over the top and then down the back side of the fence posts.
Zip Ties are used to attach the fencing to the arches and posts.
Chew Guard
To ensure that your kitty can not get out - and other critters can not get in - the bottom 18 inches of the fence is made of a 1.75" inch square steel mesh Chew Guard (coated with black vinyl). This will keep your pet, as well as rodents and predators, from chewing holes along the lower portion of the cat enclosure.
The Chew-Guard mesh is supplied in a 24" high roll to allow for overlapping an additional 6 inches onto the ground. This overlapping will prevent cats or critters from pushing underneath the fence. The Chew-Guard is pinned to the ground with 12" long, galvanized steel stakes (with a special kinked shaft to prevent slippage). Zip Ties attach the chew guard to the fencing. (For larger projects, a Hog Ringer & Hog Rings can be used to attach the two types of fencing together.)
